Creativity and intuition are fundamentally interchangeable and interdependent.

And, it's really simple, unless there's lots of debris to move through. Debris; meaning how we judge and overly critique our selves. You know, that old programming that sometimes runs on default? Well, in my case, there were and still- are many things to move through as I continue to explore the inner dimensions of soul-self through my creative process. Although, with practice over the years I've learned to make peace with what surfaces while I'm creating, it's not a permanent or static state. It's ebb and flow, ebb and flow. Some days, I have moments when I dislike what I'm painting or creatively working with. The cool thing is it's actually okay with me to be in the unfamiliar, unknown and mostly uncomfortable phase within my work now. I know it's an intrinsic piece to my process.

It's really difficult to put words to the ineffable because my process and experience feels like spiritual work to me. So, trying to define intuitive creativity is like trying to box it up and- truthfully I really wanted to do that for you here. I wanted to give you the "right" words and mind blowing explanation of this phenomena. But...what actually happened was I complicated it. I begin to make it a "thing" and most likely exhausted some brain cells trying to find the "perfect" way to present this. Sidenote: Mercury in retrograde doesn't help much in the realm of communication right now! The truth is: this creative and intuitive journey is so personal and individual. My real intention here is to create and hold space for you to explore your inner dimensions and unique wisdom. Instead, I've decided to go basic and if you choose to join me for this virtual co-creative gathering, I hope the experience will show you...in your own language, ringing all the chimes of your inner knowing, and guide you home.

Intuitive creativity is process focused vs. results driven. We are in it for the experience; to explore & learn about our unique processes.

Bring three questions or three things you want clarity on +

  • Watercolor paper or sturdy card stock. Cut three cards around 6" W x 9" H in size. Depending on how much medium you will use: watercolor or a thick textured paper works best. Card stock will hold up well with a layer or two of gesso.
  • Watercolor paints or any medium you are comfortable working with, i.e. crayons, oil pastels, acrylic paints, etc.
  • Paintbrushes, of course.
  • Magazines, lots of them! Okay, well maybe not that many, but collage is an essential piece to this project so the more images you can choose from, the better.
  • Glue stick.
  • Painter's tape (blue roll) or masking tape.
  • A big enough surface, such as a poster board, card board that can serve as a "mat" for painting/creating.
  • Pencil or pen.
  • Journal or notepaper.
  • Optional: printed pdf worksheets.

My focus is (always) in creating a space that feels safe. The amount of interaction is (always) up to you.

This is a virtual workshop, with lots of time and space designated for co-creating (see schedule below). Here are some ideas around that:
  • Log into zoom and participate with audio only. If you'd rather leave your video off for the entire workshop or turn it on at whatever point during the workshop, it's all up to you.
  • You have the option to use chat box to ask questions or share.
  • I will never put you on the spot, nor expect you to share if you are not comfortable. I care about your experience and this work requires safety and boundaries.
  • Large groups can feel overwhelming for some, but my virtual gatherings tend to be on the small size. This helps the space feel more manageable for myself as a facilitator, but also for the participants.
  • We practice full-body listening; listening from the full faculties of our minds and bodies. A process that will be weaved into any moment of circle-sharing. You don't have to know how to do this. I will demonstrate it and also there is a handout! (for those of you who like handouts ;)
  • Intuitive creativity can feel vulnerable especially if you are new to processing your experience with others. Take. Your. Time. Please. If you are not up for sharing during the workshop, you have the option to share in the online community forum or with me privately at a later time .
  • My wish is for you to feel comfortable and sometimes in groups, that takes time. I get it. Please, contact me if you have any questions or have specific needs and I will do my best to accommodate them.
  • In your name area zoom (profile), please feel free to add your pronouns. For example: (Name + Pronouns) Melissa | She/Her
  • You will have lots of time to create and remain connected to the zoom room. Set up your space so that you're comfortable and all your supplies are in reach.
